Kim in Manhattan, Kansas: Install Digital Timer for Outside Lights
I am installing a digital timer switch for outdoor lights. The lights are controlled by two three-way switches. The switch in garage shows 0 and 110 volts when checking across the common black screw and the ground, and when turning the switch on and off. There are four wires: Black-common, white, red, and ground. There is a switch in the entry way that shows 110volts when off or on across common and ground. Black w/white on it is common. Black, white, and ground also present. As you will see in picture, the entry way box has 4 sets of wires coming in. Three go to an outside light circuit and one to entry way light inside. Entry has red, black, white, and ground. The switch being installed is a Intermatic model EJ600 series digital astronomic timer. Wires are black, white, blue, red ,and ground. I have two pictures of wall switch area. Picture with one switch present is the garage, the other is the entryway. The other switch in the garage is to the garage interior lights.
